Reporting to the Supervisor of Parks Design and Development, the Coordinator of Parks Design and Development is part of a dynamic team of professionals. The Coordinator is responsible for a full range of project specific tasks for Park Capital Projects including but not limited to: preparation of quotes for consulting or construction services, design preparation, preparation and review of details and specifications, contract administration, tracking and controlling project costs. The Coordinator provides project management for a wide variety of projects such as playground redevelopments, new park design and development, new trail construction or rehabilitation, low impact development and naturalized landscape plantings, sports field and lighting projects as well as many other unique projects designed in-house or through the services of a Consultant. Other responsibilities include organizing and assisting with public consultations, assisting with the park inventory and related GIS database and providing assistance to the Design and Construction Team as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess a three (3) year community college diploma in landscape design, CET in a related field such a Civil Engineering or Architecture
  • A Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) would be considered an asset
  • Minimum three (3) years related experience working in the field of Landscape Architecture, with progressive experience completing a variety of design and construction projects in a private sector setting or advanced experience in municipal setting
  • Membership (or working towards membership) with Ontario Association of Landscape Architects (OALA),OACETT as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) considered an asset
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be considered an asset
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and changing demands and priorities
  • An ability to effectively manage and provide direction to Consultants and Contractors
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills within a multi-functional and collaborative team environment are essential
  • Experience in the planning and facilitation of community information sessions and workshops
  • Experience working on and delivering municipal park and playground projects
  • Proficient with computer applications including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCad, ArcGIS, Adobe AcrobatPro and Adobe Illustrator
  • Possess a demonstrated willingness to learn and a dedication to participate in a team oriented environment
  • Ability to work independently, is a self-starter and can take the initiative when given tasks
  • Possess a valid driver's license in good standing during the course of employment with access to a personal vehicle

WAGE/SALARY RANGE: $36.89 - $46.11 per hour (based on 35 hours a week) plus benefits.
