Position Purpose:

The Senior Landscape Architect provides professional advice and expertise in the urban design / landscape review of development applications and undertakes or participates in special projects such as the development of streetscape, urban design and architectural control guidelines. The position also supports the activities and initiatives of other departments where expertise in landscape architecture and urban design is required. Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate from 4-year post-secondary institution in Landscape Architecture from an accredited College/University. Minimum of 4 years work experience in landscape architecture, development urban design, land use planning or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Membership in the OALA is required. Membership in OPPI is an asset. Arborist Certificate and/or knowledge with respect to arboriculture practices would be an asset. Familiarity with the land development process in Ontario including working knowledge of the Planning Act, Municipal Act, Greenbelt Plan, Development Charges Act, Lake Simcoe Protection Plan, and the programs and initiatives of the Lake Simcoe Conservation Authority, Ministry of Natural Resources Conservation and Parks and York Region.
