Advisors for Externally Hosted Competitions

The OALA Competitions Guideline outlines steps and considerations when hosting a design competition. To assist organizers, OALA maintains a list of potential advisors available upon request. While OALA does not recommend specific individuals, it facilitates the sharing of names of members who may be suitable to serve as advisors. The final selection rests with the competition organizers.

Members interested in being included on this list are invited to complete this form and provide a brief explanation of their qualifications as an advisor.

The information provided may be shared with individuals/organizations organizing competitions. Potential advisors may be contacted directly by organizers and invited to participate.

Eligibility:

• Full Member of the OALA in good standing;
• an absence of any conflict of interest (COI) with respect to the outcome of the competition or, should a real, perceived, or potential COI exist, a demonstration of professional ethics, integrity, and
• transparency by providing a clear statement of COI disclosure;
• strong technical knowledge of the type of project associated with the competition;
• previous experience as a competitor, professional advisor, and/or juror in one or more landscape architectural competitions; and
• the ability to work well with sponsor organizations to achieve the goals of the competition and related project.

Considerations:

• Members included on this roster represent their profession and employer as landscape architects, and not as official representatives of the OALA.
• If you/your firm are interested to submit for the competition you must decline the invitation to serve as an advisor.
• Members will remain on the OALA Roster of Advisors for three years, at which time you will be contacted to reconfirm interest and contact information.
• Being on the Roster of Advisors doesn’t preclude you to agree to be an advisor for an opportunity you are called for; you have the right to decline.
