SHIFT Landscape Architecture is a design-focused studio based in Guelph, Ontario. We are a close-knit group of designers with backgrounds in landscape architecture, urban design, planning, art, and ecology. Our work is grounded in the belief that well-designed public spaces can meaningfully shape community, culture, and ecological health.

We are currently beginning several exciting park and public realm projects and are seeking an Intermediate Landscape Architect to join us in a full-time capacity. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of professional experience and a demonstrated ability to contribute to the design and delivery of progressive, contemporary public-space projects from concept through construction.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Principal and other team members on the development and documentation on public realm projects.
  • Oversee day-to-day coordination with clients, sub-consultants, and contractors.
  • Mentor junior staff, contributing to studio culture and design review.
  • Participate in design discussions, critique, and the continued evolution of SHIFT’s approach.

Requirements

  • A passion for design excellence and contemporary landscape architecture.
  • Strong conceptual and technical abilities, with proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and SketchUp.
  • Experience producing construction documents and performing contract administration.
  • Clear, confident communication, both written and verbal.
  • Working knowledge of Revit or other BIM software is considered an asset but not a requirement.

SHIFT offers a collaborative, design-driven environment and values a healthy work–life balance. We believe that time spent outside the office, pursuing art, family, sport and nature, enriches creative practice. Guelph offers a vibrant community, developing arts scene, and easy access to Ontario’s natural landscapes.

SHIFT’s work is rooted in a studio model, and our team works from our Guelph office each day. Prospective employees should ensure they are able to commute to the studio on a daily basis.
