We are currently seeking a motivated Junior Landscape Designer / Technologist with strong technical acumen, sound construction knowledge, and 1 to 3 years of professional experience to join our dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Development: Contribute to creative design solutions and generate conceptual designs through to complete design development packages.
- Technical & Documentation: Support the preparation of detailed construction drawings, detailing, and contract documents.
- Project Controls: Generate material takeoffs and assist in preparing accurate project budgets.
- Client & Collaboration: Communicate directly and professionally with clients, consultants, and contractors, demonstrating a commitment to high-quality customer service.
- Horticultural Expertise: Apply a strong knowledge of local plant materials, planting techniques, and long-term maintenance requirements to softscape designs.
- Project Management Support: Stay highly organized within a systematic, documented workflow; prioritize and execute multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
- Agility: Maintain flexibility and adaptability to meet shifting priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic studio environment.
Skills, Knowledge, and Technical Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, or a relevant Landscape Technical Diploma from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in a professional landscape architectural practice, ideally within a consulting environment.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Advanced AutoCAD drafting skills, with a strong understanding of complex multi-disciplinary drawings and external references (Xrefs), are essential.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft Excel, and Word.
- Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, and Enscape is considered a strong asset.
- Industry Knowledge: A well-grounded understanding of construction detailing, building materials, and the construction process.
- Core Competencies: Exceptional graphic, written, and verbal communication skills; highly self-motivated with a keen attention to detail and a collaborative team mindset.
