Mandatory Continuing Education Committee Volunteer

The OALA establishes and maintains standards of knowledge and skill among its members. The Mandatory Continuing Education (MCE) Program strives to achieve this objective and to further establish the overall credibility of the profession.

The MCE Committee monitors and manages the MCE Program to ensure its continued relevance to OALA members and its efficient functioning as intended. Included in the committee’s mandate is the requirement to complete periodic formative evaluations of the Mandatory Continuing Education (MCE) Program.

The Committee reports to the Registration and Professional Practice Standing Committee.

The Continuing Education Committee (CEC) is seeking a new Chair and new Committee members to support its important work.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and review MCE requirements for OALA members in accordance with OALA policies.
• Review and update program documents and communications for the membership.
• Monitor Continuing Education (MCE) submissions by members to ensure standards are met on an annual basis.
• Support the completion of an Annual Audit of MCE submissions as per MCE process documents.
• Review MCE requirements on an ongoing basis to address any lessons learned or areas for improvement.
• Provide updates and information to members and other relevant stakeholders as required.
  
  

Time Commitment

The Committee will typically meet monthly, or on an as-needed basis.

Length of Appointment

Committee member appointments are unlimited (typically two (2) to five (5) years).
