Call for Volunteers: OALA J.E.D.I. Committee

The Ontario Association of Landscape Architects (OALA) is seeking dedicated volunteers to join our Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (J.E.D.I.) Committee. This committee plays a key role in advancing the Ontario component of the CSLA JEDI Plan and supporting the Association in upholding JEDI principles across all areas of practice and governance.

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and lived experiences, and we especially encourage participation from members who identify with any of the following groups:

  • Ethnocultural and linguistic communities
  • Racialized communities or People of Colour
  • New immigrants
  • Indigenous communities
  • LGBTQ2S+ individuals
  • Individuals with differing abilities
  • Faith-based communities
  • Diverse age groups
  • Diverse gender identities

What the Committee Does

Members collaborate to:

  • Implement and track actions from the OALA and CSLA JEDI Action Plans. Some of the activities include hosting events, discussions and webinars, as well as compiling and sharing relevant resources and opportunities.
  • Provide advice and support to Council, Committees, and Task Forces
  • Identify partnership opportunities with allied professions

Commitment:  Monthly meetings (or as needed). Typical volunteer terms range from 2–5 years.

If you are passionate about advancing equity and inclusion within the landscape architecture profession, we would be grateful for your voice at the table.
