Our Ottawa office serves clients throughout the National Capital Region and Eastern Ontario, while also collaborating closely with our Montreal team on interprovincial projects.

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced landscape design professional to play a key leadership role in the growth and continued development of our Ottawa practice. There may also be a future opportunity for equity participation in the firm.

Your New Role

We are looking for a talented and driven landscape design professional to join our Ottawa office in a full-time position.

In this role, you will help lead projects from concept development through construction documentation and contract administration. You will be responsible for producing high-quality design work, managing project deliverables, coordinating with clients and consultants and supporting the continued growth of the Ottawa office.

This position is well suited for someone with strong design, technical, construction and project management experience. The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, confident in leading teams and interested in contributing not only to project delivery, but also to the long-term evolution of the firm.

We are looking for someone who brings leadership, initiative and strategic thinking to the role. Beyond technical skills, we are interested in how you think, how you lead  and how your experience can create long-term value for Lashley + Associates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop landscape design concepts, construction plans and presentation materials.
  • Lead and support the preparation of proposals, reports and project documentation.
  • Prepare and review detailed working drawings, specifications and construction packages.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, municipalities, sub-consultants and internal project teams.
  • Manage project schedules, deliverables, budgets and timelines.
  • Conduct site analysis and integrate field information into design solutions.
  • Participate in contract administration and construction site review during project implementation.
  • Ensure designs meet municipal standards, accessibility requirements, sustainability goals and budget constraints.
  • Maintain design quality, technical accuracy and consistency across project deliverables.
  • Contribute to design innovation, quality control and mentorship within the team.
  • Support and mentor junior staff.
  • Participate in business development, including client outreach, consultant coordination, public tender searches and industry events or conferences.

Qualifications

We are looking for a qualified and enthusiastic candidate with the following experience and skills:

  • Degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in landscape architecture.
  • OALA / AAPQ membership, or eligibility for registration.
  • Strong experience in project management, construction documentation and contract administration.
  • Strong technical knowledge of landscape construction, grading, planting design, detailing and municipal approval processes.
  • Experience leading projects and teams independently.
  • Experience working with public-sector, municipal, institutional or community-based projects is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian climate conditions, plant materials  and construction practices.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and client relationships.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and quality control.
  • Proficiency in CAD platforms, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset. English is required; French is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s licence is required.
