pl.ural is looking for a motivated Intermediate Team Member to join our team of well-experienced, fun-loving, community minded individuals. Our office is run by two (2) Principal Landscape Architects, three (3) Landscape Architectural Technicians, and several support staff and consultants. Our specialty in planning and design for rural Ontario communities can be summed up to include projects bridging parks, trails and recreation, active transportation, community improvement, commemoration, economic development, tourism, and wayfinding.

pl.ural is a professional landscape architecture, planning and design firm. It has been offering a unique mix of interdisciplinary services for over 25 years specifically to rural Ontario communities, and destination environments. We offer our services to municipalities, BIA’s, communities, service/focus groups, governments/agencies, developers and allied consultants.

The skills and areas of expertise offered by pl.ural attract a great variety and scale of projects in fantastic rural communities. Our projects often require innovative approaches to complex problems based on thorough, situational analyses.

What remains consistent in all projects, however, is a search for basic principles: community understanding & comfort; excellence in design; technical quality, physical and emotional user satisfaction; sensitivity in responding to physical context and economic viability. Versatility and experience is paramount.

Our Expectations:

The ideal candidate will be tasked with offering support across a variety of projects, in all stages of the design process which will include, but is not limited to:

Collaboration with internal and external teams,

Client correspondence,

Research and background documentation review,

Field assessments and photo documentation,

Conceptual design,

Report development and writing,

Graphic development and visual communications,

Rendering and 3D modeling,

Community engagement initiatives,

Technical drawings,

Tender documentation and construction administration,

Plant identification,

Proposal writing, and more.

The expectation is that the candidate will develop and refine their technical skills to effectively assist our team, ultimately progressing to a role of leading projects.

Qualifications:

  • Must obtain a Post-secondary Education, Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, or an applicable field.
  • Proof of commitment to the profession (PDP currently in progress/complete, or other certifications).
  • Extra certifications are an asset but not required, (i.e. arborist, drone operator, software certification, etc.)
  • 3+ years professional work experience (design planning firm experience an asset but not necessary).
  • Proficiency with the Adobe Suite, AutoCAD, Sketchup, Microsoft Office
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking, problem solving and versatility
  • Can work both collaboratively and independently
  • Interested in professional growth and learning new skills
  • Proximity to Fergus/Guelph/KW an asset
  • Must hold a valid G driver’s license and a vehicle to commute
