We’re looking for a Playground Solution Designer who will be the creative and technical "right hand" to our Ontario Sales team. You’ll be the expert in turning a client’s vision into a safe, exciting, and budget-conscious reality. You’ll report to our Managing Director (Canada) with a dotted line to our North American Director of Design and Visualization, ensuring our Canadian projects are world-class.

For more than 50 years, KOMPAN has researched, designed, and built innovative and imaginative commercial playground equipment and outdoor fitness sites that captivate all ages and abilities.

In collaboration with our global headquarters in Denmark, KOMPAN designs, manufactures, and installs more than 1,000 sites a month across more than 90 different countries. Our Canadian headquarters, located in Kitchener, ON, supports field sales throughout Canada.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate in lock-step with Sales Representatives and our Proposal Specialists to unpack project briefs and develop designs that win.
• Bring "Wow" to every project by creating imaginative concept plans, detailed site layouts, and space designs using AutoCAD.
• Transform 2D ideas into 3D reality, generating exciting renders and illustrations in 3ds Max that tell a story to our clients.
• Own the numbers by building out complete project price quotations, integrating equipment costs with third-party and sub-contractor figures provided by the team.
• Be the expert on regional requirements, ensuring every design is compliant with CSA safety standards and local site constraints.
• Master the juggle of coordinating multiple design and quoting projects simultaneously, keeping every deadline on track.

What You’ll Need

• A background in Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, Architectural Design, or a related field (degree or equivalent experience).
• High proficiency in AutoCAD and 3ds Max—you know how to make a site plan look professional and a render look spectacular.
• Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite for building out compelling client presentations.
• A sharp eye for detail and a good level of numerical skill for accurate project quoting.
• Knowledge of CSA playground standards is a huge plus, as is experience with technical code application.
• A collaborative, "let's figure it out" mindset—you’re comfortable working with different teams to get the best result.
• Familiarity with reading construction sets and designing in topographically challenging environments
• Ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment
• Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
• Experience working with clients and presenting to a wide array of stakeholder groups
• Ability to synthesize critique in challenging contexts to steer a project team and stakeholders towards constructive and beneficial solutions
• Passion for creating amazing play & fitness environments
• Minimum 5 years of experience in landscape architecture, landscape design, architectural design, playground design, amusement park design, waterpark design, etc. is preferred
• Bilingualism (English/French) is a total asset but not a dealbreaker.
