Job Title: Senior Project Manager
Work Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Work Location: Wallenstein, ON (Hybrid)
Wage: $90,000 - $120,000

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our Design and Delivery Team—someone who brings consultative experience, strong critical thinking, and the foresight necessary to lead ambitious design-build projects from concept to completion.

At Earthscape Play, we create beautiful, innovative custom playground sculptures and structures that inspire children and adults to creatively play.  By partnering with some of the most prestigious Landscape Architecture firms in North America, we bring brilliant playground concepts to life. Our award-winning design-build firm is located just outside of Elmira, Ontario in Waterloo Region.

Together, our ambitious team designs, engineers, builds, and installs state-of-the-art timber playgrounds that become iconic and well-loved destination spaces. The work environment we’ve created is positive, productive, fun, and rewarding. To see our one-of-a-kind projects, visit www.earthscapeplay.com.

The Role:

We are looking for someone with demonstrated project management experience as a consulting professional. While we don't expect you to start as a playground expert, we are looking for strong experience in consulting with the right internal and external professionals to ensure every decision is in the best interest of the project’s success.

Key Responsibilities & Competencies:

  • Professional Consulting / Project Management: Act as the primary point of contact between Earthscape and external consultants and clients, as well as within internal teams. You build trust through transparency, follow-through, and a full understanding of the design intent and project requirements.
  • Critical Thinking & Foresight: Synthesize information from various sources to make logical, well-informed decisions. You define problems clearly, anticipate hurdles before they arise, and provide solutions that respect both design integrity and project constraints.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Facilitate a "no-surprises" environment. You document decisions clearly, lead productive meetings, and ensure all partners, both internal and external, are clearly aligned on technical requirements and next steps.
  • Site & Construction Coordination: Partner with external professional consultants to ensure site layout, foundations, and installation methodologies are clearly defined. You ensure all responsible parties have absolute clarity on construction logistics.
  • Project Stewardship: Own the project lifecycle. You define boundaries, manage realistic stakeholder expectations, and ensure scope, schedule, and budget are meticulously documented and controlled.
  • Project Viability & Performance: Ensure long-term success by aligning design aspirations with budget realities. You proactively mitigate risk and manage project shifts formally to protect the project’s vision and timeline.

Who You Are:

You are a seasoned professional who balances a meticulous eye for detail with a firm grasp of the big picture.

  • Experienced: 8+ years in Project Management, specifically within Design-Build, Custom Manufacturing, or Landscape Architecture.
  • Technical Mentor: You are proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp / Rhino, but you provide the most value by reviewing complex models and drawings, while mentoring junior team members to ensure deliverables meet expectations.
  • Strategic Communicator: You instinctively adjust your style, level of detail, and focus to suit your audience. You are as effective at presenting a vision to a municipality or client as you are at coordinating technical details on the shop floor with our fabricators.
  • Educated: Degree or certification in Project Management, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or Engineering.
  • Resilient: You possess a growth mindset and the "soft skills" required to navigate the unique challenges of custom, one-of-a-kind builds.

What’s in it for you?

This job will offer you the opportunity to work on some of North America’s most innovative playground projects.  The pace, challenges and problem-solving opportunities will mean you are never bored.  You will have the chance to develop and refine a wide variety of skills in our rapidly growing business.  Your colleagues are dynamic, and highly skilled.  They have an impressive range of backgrounds, skills and expertise.

We believe in great compensation for great employees, and we reward our staff with a combination of:

  • Profit sharing and performance bonuses
  • Employee share ownership opportunities (ESOP)
  • Six-week sabbatical after 14,000 hours worked
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Extended health and dental benefits
  • Flex time with options to work remotely to support work-life balance
  • Company events
  • Casual dress code

Accommodations: We are committed to treating all people in a way that respects their dignity and independence. Should you require any accommodation during the recruitment process or otherwise, please notify us of this when you apply and we will work with you to meet your accessibility needs.

Pre-employment checks: As part of our selection process, successful candidates may be required to consent to background checks relevant to the role, prior to receiving a job offer. These could include: work references, education and credential confirmation, employment verification, identity check, criminal offense and driver’s license record.

At Earthscape Play, we are committed to building an environment where everyone feels included, valued, and heard. Diversity, inclusion, and belonging are an important part of our everyday work, and it is our belief that they enable us to reach our goal of bringing incredible play spaces to life. We strongly encourage applications from Indigenous Peoples, racialized people, people with disabilities, people from gender and sexually diverse communities and/or people with intersectional identities.
