OALA David Erb Memorial Award

The Award

This prestigious award is named for an outstanding volunteer of the OALA, David Erb. His volunteer services to the Association furthered the goals of the OALA and set a truly high standard for his exemplary work. This award is the best way to acknowledge an outstanding OALA member whose volunteer contributions over several years have made a real difference to the association and its members.

The Nominee

This award recognizes a Full Member of the OALA who has shown outstanding volunteerism over the years and contributed to furthering the goals and strategic plan of the OALA while making a real difference to the association and its members. The nominee has undertaken their activities for the OALA on a voluntary basis and was not for remuneration.

Nominator and Endorser

The Nominator must be a Full Member of the OALA.

In addition to the nominator, a minimum of 1 endorsement is required from a member of any category of the OALA membership (not including student or affiliate members), or a Committee of the OALA.

Submission Requirements and Evaluation Criteria

The submission should highlight the nominee’s volunteer contributions and why they are a deserving candidate. The submission should describe the contributions that:

• Exemplify volunteerism through their accomplishments or goals met and the role they played. This could include supporting committees or chapters in their work, enabling the OALA to support other groups, agencies or organizations, or meeting with elected officials (municipal, provincial, etc.) to advocate for the profession and further the goals of the association.
• Have made a significant contribution to the OALA, its membership or landscape architecture and landscape architects in general and whether its effects are local, regional, provincial or national.
