OALA Public Practice Award
The Award
This award acknowledges the outstanding leadership of a member of the profession in public service who promotes and enhances landscape architecture by working for improved understanding and appreciation of the work of landscape architects in both public and private practice. The award may be given to an individual in recognition of a specific project, or for a body of work or for exemplary leadership or advocacy.
Nominee
This award will be given to an individual Full Member of the OALA working in public practice.
Nominator and Endorser
The nominator must be either a Full Member of the OALA, or a Committee of the OALA.
Submission Requirements and Evaluation Criteria
Individual work or body of work, leadership or advocacy should be referenced in the submission. The submission shall address the following points and conditions:
- The individual to be honoured is to be practicing in a public service environment located within the Province of Ontario.
- Emphasis on the significance of the contributions and impact the individual’s work has made upon the public realm through design and/or public policy, highlighting specific characteristics and features that demonstrate their commitment in the following areas such as;
- public health and safety,
- environmental sustainability through resilience planning,
- climate change adaptation,
- natural, cultural and heritage landscape conservation,
- alternative transportation,
- master planning,
- urban design, and
- project installations.
